Extra Support Provided
There comes a point in everyone’s life when they may no longer be able to take care of themselves. Nature calls for the families of each individual to take care of them, just as they were cared for when they were young. Unfortunately, careers and other matters of modern life can often make this a difficult task. Assisted Living Facilities offer housing options for active and non-active adults who may need help with dressing, bathing, eating and toileting, but do not require intensive medical and nursing care provided in nursing homes. Assisted living may be part of a retirement community or standalone facility. Clark County Senior Resources provides the support that retirees and their families require, including finding an Assisted Living Facility.
What is Memory Care?
Memory care is the term for a long-term care option for patients who have been diagnosed with such conditions or have problems with at least two areas of daily living. A memory care environment is designed for persons with a level of impairment making it unsafe for him or her to continue to stay at home, but who does not require the intensive care of a skilled nursing facility. Memory care allows a person experiencing memory loss to maintain a level of independence while relying on the safety and security of being in a residential facility with a professional staff.
An adult family home (AFH) is a private residence that provides room and board for up to six non-related adults. AFHs are licensed by the state and offer a range of services, including meals, laundry, and supervision. Some AFHs also provide specialized care for people with dementia, developmental disabilities, or mental health issues.
"In-home care," also called "home care," refers to non-medical assistance provided to individuals in their own homes, helping them with daily living activities like bathing, dressing, eating, cleaning, transportation, and companionship, allowing them to maintain independence while staying at home; this care is typically provided by a home care aide and may include basic housekeeping tasks as well.
